Flower Of The Day: Calla Lilies

With there long lean shape Calla Lilies are the epitome of floral elegance. Katherine Hepburn made them famous in Stage Door (1937) with an unforgettable quote, Georgia O’Keeffe painted them as a symbol of feminine sexuality, and in the1930’s Art Deco homes hung Diego Rivera Calla Lily paintings on their walls. A popular trend today is to arrange them in low bowls instead of vases to show off their lengthy stems, using fishbowl vases is another interesting option.
